Hi there! My name is Glenda. What’s yours?

Welcome to my world, you’re on my turf now! Actually, I’m new in the blogosphere so I’m the new kid on this very big block. I appreciate your peeking onto my page. I hope you’ll keep coming back!

I am a Christian, a follower of Christ. I am single. I’ve been both for a long time. If you want to know more, I have a bio you can read, soon’s I can figure out to make sure it’s posted. I will be sharing my story as to how I have been single, along with many other things about my journey, as time goes along.

I love to observe, write, share, teach, counsel, comment, hassle, mess with, call out, love on, and laugh. A lot. I figured I’d better start writing down somewhere some of what I’ve been learning about being a Christian who just happens to be single. BTW I’m somewhere between “old enough to know better” and “young enough not to care,” so I’ve stored up a lot of observations, insights, struggles, mistakes, and triumphs to share. I did some research and realized blogging was a great way to do what I envision as sharing.

Don’t tell anyone, but this is an experiment.

I’m going to try blogging every week for 6 months and see what happens. I will post mostly on Sunday or Monday night. As I learn to navigate my way through the technicalities of blogging, my site will unfold.

Not every week will be about being single and unhappy about it. In fact, many weeks will not be about that topic. To those who may be incredulous, there is much more to life than just being unmarried and The Great Hunt For A Spouse.

We humans are complex. You are complex! You—and I—are multiple layers of humanity, intertwined like vats of spaghetti noodles, with physical and spiritual ancestry, genetic influences and genetic outcomes, family of origin, birth order, personality, emotional IQ, culture, skin tone, personal body chemistry, early life experiences, medical incidents and crises, religious practices (or lack thereof), learning styles, love languages, disabilities, skills, crimes, aptitudes, education, friends, neighbors, extended family, losses, media, entertainment, technology, choices, if you become a Christian add spiritual gifts, accidents, romantic attachments, the arrival of children and grandchildren, passing through various life stages, the deterioration of the human condition, local and national policy, international treaties, natural disasters, the climate, local and world economy, and who knows what else. I tired myself just writing that list. No wonder we’re so complex! Did I leave out anything?

The Bible declares in Psalm 139 that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. I think that includes all that stuff I just mentioned plus the stuff I left out that you’re thinking of right now.

So we’re pretty complex. All that to say that sometimes my topics will be complex. I’m a research rat, so I like to back things up, as much as I can. Sometimes I want to just put the cookies on the bottom shelf, though, and use that KISS principle of writing (“keep it short and sweet” or “keep it simple, stupid!”) so everybody can get it.

Yeah, I read all those articles about how long bloggers’ articles should be so that we get more hits on the SEO. I love to write or talk, but when I think I am done, I am done. I don’t need to hear myself talk just for its own sake.

Don’t worry, though. I definitely have a lot of thoughts, observations, insights, struggles, and so forth about being single and Christian, that I plan to share. I have been actively involved in all sorts of churches and Christian singles groups. There are a lot of scary things out there, as well as really great stories and relationships, that I have seen or gotten involved (or almost gotten involved, thank God!) in. And I am not afraid to rat out my brothers or my sisters for some of the goings-on I have seen, up close and personal! (Not rat out individuals, of course—I mean clusters of people who have been known to do some knuckle-heady things!)

Nothing’s off limits. I, just like you, have opinions, thoughts, observations, musings before and after coffee, struggles, triumphs, stupids, insights in the middle of the night, mistakes, and wisdom gained from experience, that will be fun to share and dialogue about. One of my favorite quotes about life is from Will Rogers: “You get good judgment from experience. You get experience from bad judgment.” Yep, I got me a lot of good judgment from that sort of experience. Hey, don’t snicker, I know you do, too!

I plan every once in awhile to ask a guest blogger who is Christian, single, and over 18 to write an article for this blog. When I have a guest blogger, I will post theirs on another day of the week. I have more than enough topics lined up to go over a year if I post once a week, not including guest blogs. I want to see what the Lord does first. Pray for me! You’re gonna need it!

I never thought of myself as a blogger until I put the money down to start this beast. And I know it will be a beast. Many of you have been blogging awhile so you’re already thinking, “Yeah, I know. Wonder if she’ll make it.”

Blogging, I have already discovered, is fun, but hard work. So you know that what you’ll be reading came from my heart and determination to share; my blood, sweat, and tears. (Not really, about the blood. Well, there was that time in third grade when I nearly cut half my left index finger off helping my mom sharpen a knife instead of washing dishes like she asked me to. But that’s another blog for another day!)

I don’t know it all, of course, and I don’t want to come off like I do. Definitely, I don’t have it all together and have a long ways to go in many areas of my life. Just like you. But what I have received from the Lord, I’m happy to share with you, if you also share a little with me. Freely I have received, freely I will give. If you are not able to post a comment, I’m working on that. No one can live long enough to make all the mistakes. We might as well consolidate and get experience as cheaply as possible!

Let’s start walking together, toward eternity, and invite as many people as we can to join us. One of my former pastors used to always say, “I believe in Calvinism, but God put me on the nominating committee for salvation. Since we don’t know who’s destined and who’s not, I’m nominating everybody!” The way things are cranking up around here for Christians, we don’t know how long we have on this planet. So we need to get walking, talking, and inviting.

Come back tomorrow for my first article. The Lord bless you. Make a great day!

    1. Thanks. I know it’s not really all that great looking but I wanted to get writing. I hope to have a completely revamped site and look by January.

  5. You actually make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this matter to be really something that
I think I would never understand. It seems too complex and very broad for me.
I’m looking forward for your next post, I will try to get the hang of it!

  6. May I simply say what a comfort to find a person that genuinely knows
what they’re talking about on the net. You actually know how to bring a problem to
light and make it important. More people need to look at this and
understand this side of your story. It’s surprising you’re not
more popular because you surely have the gift.

    1. Thank you for your kind feedback, Minda (if that is your name!), I appreciate it. I do not know what God is going to do with it, as I am very new. So we’ll just see what happens!

    1. That is a nice comment, Josie (if that’s your name!). I appreciate the feedback and will always welcome it. I hope you keep coming back!

  7. First off I want to say fantastic blog! I had a quick question which I’d like to ask if you don’t mind.
I was interested to find out how you center yourself and clear your thoughts
prior to writing. I have had a difficult time clearing my thoughts
in getting my ideas out there. I do take pleasure in writing however it just
seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are usually lost just trying to figure out how to begin.
Any suggestions or hints? Many thanks!

    1. Hi! Thank you for your nice feedback. I appreciate what you’re saying about getting started each sitting with your writing. I get it.
I love to write and I also have to write a lot for my job. However, though documentation is different, I still have to clear my thoughts there, too, so that does not help. I just discovered this morning that early morning is a better time for me to write than late afternoon or evening, when I am weary and may also have “brain fog” from eating too many carbs or staying up too late the night before.
I am very new, very green, at this blogging thing. I have to plan and pray for days what I am going to write about for next weekend. I am not sure I have much I could say from experience to help you.
I guess I could say: 1) knowing your circadian body rhythms; 2) thinking ahead of time what you’re wanting to address before you even sit down, and 3) just relax and take those 10 to 15 minutes to settle your heart and mind so once you get started, you can just keep going.
If you are a believer and follower of Christ, then you also have the added resource of praying and asking for the guidance of the Holy Spirit as you prepare to write.
I hope this helps, let us know if you find something helpful!

    1. Hi, Murray,
Thanks for the feedback. I’m not sure what you meant by “too quick for beginners…please prolong them a bit from next time”? Did you mean spread them out longer between posts?

  9. Hey There. I found your blog using msn. This is an extremely well
written article. I’ll be sure to bookmark
it and come back to read more of your useful info.

Thanks for the post. I’ll definitely return.

  10. Oh my goodness! Incredible article girl! Thanks, However I am
going through troubles with your RSS. I don’t know the reason why I cannot subscribe to it.
Is there anybody else having identical RSS issues?

  11. Hello! I just wanted to ask if you ever have any problems with hackers?
My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I ended up losing several weeks of hard
work due to no data backup. Do you have any methods to stop hackers?

    1. not yet, I am hoping and praying not to have that problem. May have been a problem with wifi connections and/or malicious not-so-distant neighbors with nothing else better to do with their time than hack. Pray, Natasha, pray!

  12. Great article! That is the kind of information that
are meant to be shared across the web. Disgrace on the seek engines for now not positioning
this put up upper! Come on over and talk over with my website
    . Thank you =)

    1. I have a day set aside to really read other bloggers’ posts and Christian singles websites. Thank you for the invite, Shavonne, I will go snoop! I love doing that! God bless you!

  13. Hey there! This is my first comment here
so I just wanted to give a quick shout out and say I truly enjoy
reading your articles. Can you recommend any other blogs/websites/forums that deal with the same topics?
    Thank you so much!

    1. Well, Aurora,
You will have to really look around. I did do some perusing online and actually did not find many blogs for Christian singles in general. There are many blogs by Christian women for Christian women, especially single Christian women. And many blogs by and for Christian men or Christians in general. You will probably have to go surfing for the websites, let us know if you find some and we’ll run down there with you to read them!

  14. I don’t know if it’s just me or if everyone else experiencing issues with your blog.
It seems like some of the text on your content are running off the screen. Can somebody else please provide feedback and let me know if this is
happening to them too? This may be a problem with my internet browser because I’ve had this happen before.
    Appreciate it

    1. I will look into this, Karl. Thank you for the feedback! Nothing ever looks the same from the outside as it does from the inside so I appreciate this.

  15. Hi, I do think this is a great site. I stumbledupon it 😉 I will
return once again since I book-marked it. Money and freedom is the best way to change, may you be rich and continue to help others.

    1. Hi, Ken,
It is great to hear from you, may the Lord bless you also. However, I must say that money and freedom are not intrinsic game-changers, it is your attitude toward either of these that can make or break you. The Bible does not teach that money is the root of all evil; Paul said it was the love of money that was the root of all sorts of evil (I Timothy 6:6-10). Beware and be generous, my friend.

  16. Howdy! This article could not be written much better!
Going through this article reminds me of my previous roommate!
He continually kept preaching about this. I am going to send this post
to him. Fairly certain he’s going to have a great read.
    Thank you for sharing!

    1. Hi, Jeannine,
I am not sure how I missed your comment, thank you for your kind words. I hope both you and your previous roommate both come back to visit, I just posted my latest blog!

  17. Howdy! I know this is sort of off-topic however I needed to ask.
Does building a well-established website like yours take a
lot of work? I’m brand new to writing a blog however I do write in my journal
every day. I’d like to start a blog so I can share my personal
experience and views online. Please let me know if you have any ideas or tips for brand new aspiring bloggers.
    Appreciate it!

    1. Hi, Wilhemina!
Thanks for your interest. To tell you the truth, I had never thought about blogging until 3 months ago. I did some preliminary research online and started from there. You will also have to do that–figuring out why you want to blog, what products will work for you, how much you can afford, and go from there. I use Bluehost to host my blog, you might want to check them out. God’s best blessings to you as you search out what He wants you to do.

    2. Hi again Wilhemina!
You know, I am an aspiring blogger myself. I don’t know that I have enough experience to know what to share except to pray, get organized, plan your time around when you can blog regularly, and just start! The start up cost is what can be scary.
Many sites have free “software” to help you create your site but you must pay for the host and some other features that they recommend to do with it. I discovered that they will give you a breakdown as to how much it will cost per month, but they will take out 3 years’ fees all at once. Thank God I had it covered in my account or it would have been a nasty surprise!

  18. Good day! I could have sworn I’ve visited your blog before but after browsing through a few of the articles I realized
it’s new to me. Anyhow, I’m certainly happy I found it and I’ll be
book-marking it and checking back regularly!

    1. Hi, Ray,
That sure is a nice thing to say. Thank you for visiting, I hope you have time for the article I just posted! God bless you on your journey.

  19. We stumbled over here by a different web address and thought I should check things out.

I like what I see so i am just following you.

Look forward to finding out about your web page again.

  20. Oh my goodness! Amazing article dude! Thank you,
However I am going through issues with your RSS. I don’t know the reason why I cannot
subscribe to it. Is there anybody getting the same RSS problems?
Anyone that knows the solution will you kindly
    respond? Thanks!!

  21. Greetings from Colorado! I’m bored at work so I decided to
browse your site on my iphone during lunch break. I enjoy the
knowledge you present here and can’t wait to take a look when I get home.
I’m amazed at how fast your blog loaded on my cell phone ..
I’m not even using WIFI, just 3G .. Anyhow, great blog!
